Hey! Hey! HEY! I found that I'm terrible at routinely signing in on here. Does it sound bad to send submissions to my personal account at :dehereKITTYthere I really want to support this group and watch your guys' ballpoint works flourish, but I can sense that you guys don't want to contribute to such a dead club. I want that to change!


WHAT IS THIS?

This seems to be the beginning of a DA group that will give a home to what everyone else on here calls "scraps." The catch of course is, that we give each piece the respect it deserves--as a real deviation.

We can see the beauty of a sketch done in ballpoint pen--a beautiful tool that makes for emotional, dramatic drawings.

We also understand that sometimes genius occurs when you have nothing but lined paper or graph paper to produce your art upon. You may just like the "doodled in class look."

The addition of the Scraps section is offensive to artists like us. Isn't it snobbish to say that a work of art is no longer a work of art just because it isn't "clean" as this breed of digital artists want it to be? Is lined paper that offensive, despite the true mastery of the pen?

But to limit art is to destroy the very concept of it. That's what is group is meant to stand up against. Go ahead and submit that sketch that would get you a policy violation if you submitted it onto your actual gallery.

Two reasons.
We liked it. It is a good example of the work we enjoy to see and create.
We want you to join. In advertising for a new community, there is a fine line of how much you can note, spam, and threat people in order to get them to join. If your work is featured, consider yourself invited. (not that you need prior invitation...)

Well, it isn't true, necessarily. We just don't like the limit the Scraps system puts on art and artists. The definition of art is different for everyone, so why go by someone else's definition?

We do prefer that members show our avatar in their journal. But if you do not wish to have any avatars on your journal page, you can opt not to. However, if you display any avatars on your journal page, especially community avatars, we do expect ours to be among them.


FAQ 07
-=-Does ~Ball-point also accept ballpoint submissions that are cleaned up via Photoshop?
Yes, as long was the actuall subject of the work was created with ballpint pen. Photoshop and such programs are useful to "clean up" your work after scanning. If you prefer to do such with your art will still be eligible for submission in ~Ball-point.

Send ~Ball-point a note with links to the works you are requesting submittion of. Your request will be honored soon.

If this work you wish to submit is not on deviantART, please provide any comments within the note.



FAQ 09
-=-Some of the club's deviations include what the deviant originally put in their gallery as comments. Why do mine not include my comments?-=-
When I'm posting member's work, I see if the person put anything insightful or interesting in their comments and include what they put. If the comment does not include anything incredibly relevant or personal details, the comment will be left out.

If you want your comments added, please note ~Ball-point or ~hereKITTYthere and the change will soon be made.
